At the time of writing, the people of Scotland are carefully considering whether to vote yes to become an independent country.

My wife Karen, is from Scotland, so I’m interested in the result even though I have no opinion either way, but as I contemplated the outcome of this referendum, I wondered what else we should be affirming in our lives.

Here is a list of 10 questions I think we should be saying yes to:

  1. Are you working towards your goals on a daily basis?
  2. Are you looking after your health?
  3. Are you maintaining a positive attitude even during difficult situations?
  4. Are you investing in your relationships with the people you care for?
  5. Are you using your finances wisely and generously?
  6. Are you committed to reading and learning every day?
  7. Are you adding value to the people around you?
  8. Are you connecting with God regularly?
  9. Are you using your unique skills to make a positive difference in the world?
  10. Are you constantly increasing your sphere of influence?

If you can truly say yes to each of these questions, you’re doing better than me.

If not, what are you going to do about it?
