Next-time-youre-waitingMy oldest son, Hayden is turning 10 soon.  Yes, I’m that old!

He loves animals (he writes his own animal blog) and more than anything, wants a lizard for his birthday to add to his little menagerie, which at this stage consists of two goldfish.

Lizards aren’t energetic creatures like dogs or cats.  Because they are cold-blooded, they required an external heat source to warm them up and give them the energy that they need to survive.

Alas, I’ve met a few people who act as though they are lizards.

They wait around, hoping that someone will waltz into their lives to motivate, inspire, encourage or cajole them into taking action.

But you don’t need that!

To change the world and live to your full potential, you don’t need:

  • a more inspiring boss,
  • a more supportive environment,
  • a posse of people cheering you on,
  • someone who is constantly on your case, telling you what you need to do next.

All of these things are nice and they certainly help, but they aren’t a necessity.

You don’t need external sources of heat, because you’re warm-blooded, which means that you have the capacity to generate the energy that you need yourself.

So, next time you’re waiting for someone to inspire or motivate you, remember, you’re not a lizard!
