Theres-something-specialI believe that we all have a calling.

We each have a reason to get up in the morning so that we can do our best work.

We each have a unique set of irreplaceable skills, passions and attributes.

We each have a wonderful opportunity to make the world a better place.

And that includes you.

There’s something special about you and you can do things that no-one else can, in a way that no-one else can, to positively impact people that no-one else can.

That-dream-that-youveA book half written is no book at all.

A movie half made makes no sense and can’t be released.

An invention half developed is still just an unusable prototype.

A roast half cooked is not fit for human consumption.

And that dream that you’ve been working on won’t become a reality if you leave it half done.

Kind-thoughts-dontKind thoughts don’t matter much.  They make absolutely no difference to the person being thought kindly of.

Kind intentions don’t mean much either.  Most people have good intentions, but many of them are never carried out.

There are only acts of kindness.

So today, when you think about calling someone, actually call them.

When you think that someone might need help, help them.

To-those-who-have-goneTo those who have gone before,

Who have trampled out a path where there was no path,

Who have been battered and bruised by life and have the scars to prove it,

Who have fallen and risen, and fallen and risen, and fallen and risen, never giving up in the face of great challenges,

Who had the courage to follow their dreams despite the critics and naysayers,

Who fought wars (literally and metaphorically) so that we can have a better life today.

Ayrton Senna On-a-given-day-a-givenAfter my quote from Charlie Brown yesterday, I stumbled upon this one from iconic Brazilian driver, Ayrton Senna:

On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit.

And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, ‘Okay, this is the limit’.

And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further.

With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.

The-thing-is-flying-aOver the weekend, I watched the Peanuts Movie with the family.

For those who are familiar with the legendary cartoon, you would know of Charlie Brown’s constant struggles with flying kites and his nemesis, the kite-eating tree.  In the movie, when asked for kite flying advice from a younger kid, Charlie had this to say:

The thing is,
flying a kite isn’t for everyone.
It takes a certain type of person.
It can be frustrating at times,
they tend to have
a mind of their own.
But with determination and dedication,
you can make it happen.

Who-do-you-think-you-areWho do you think you are?

Who are you to change the world?

Who are you to lead?

Who are you to make a positive difference?

Who are you to lead others?

Who are you to stand up and give your opinion?

Keep-walking-into-theWalking into a strong wind takes effort.

You have to lean into it.

You have to push against it.

It’s easier to stay where you are and it takes even less effort to walk in the same direction that the wind is blowing, but that won’t take you to your destination.

Success in life is about walking into the wind.

If-you-want-to-changeThe way the media works these days, it’s easy for us to become outraged.

Jail terms are too lenient.

What did Donald Trump just say?

Those religious extremists have to be stopped.

The list goes on and on.

But while we shake our fists at the TV or write another angry comment on a news website, nothing changes.
