I remember the days when I was young and fit and played competitive sport.  It seems like such a long time ago now.

There were times when I was stuck on the bench and didn’t get the chance that I thought I deserved to play.

I was itching to get out there.

I kept trying to get the coach’s attention.

I kept training hard.

But there were times it was all to no avail.

Thankfully, life isn’t like that.

Whether you participate in the wonderful adventure in front of you isn’t dependent on a coach, boss or parent.

It’s your decision.

You can sit on the sidelines waiting to be chosen, but you’ll be waiting for a long time.

Get off the bench.

Don’t just cheer others on, or criticise from the stands.

Get in the game.

Take a risk.

Not next year.

Not tomorrow.
