My beloved Boston Celtics are on a bit of a roll at the moment in the NBA and I noticed an interesting statistic that mentioned when Jaylen Brown has scored 20 or more points this season, the Celtics are 23-5.

Imagine that.

A player does well and the team benefits.

It seems obvious, but sometimes we forget this important principle and also neglect to apply it in our lives.

I need you to hear this today.

Maddi had a tryout for a new netball team tonight.

She was terrified.

But when she got home from school, she quickly got changed into her sporting apparel and, with trepidation, we went to the tryout.

There were over 20 other girls, many much older than her, but she took a deep breath and threw herself into the trial.

It would have been easy for her not to go.

When a criminal commits a crime, their fingerprints are left at the scene.

It points to the perpetrator.

No-one else could have done this.

We live in a world where it’s easy to criticise and find fault.

People who make you laugh.

People who keep you focused and motivated.

People who generously provide mentoring and advice.

People who are there for you during the low moments.

All perfectly harmless activities, that don’t really make much of a positive impact.

Then there are those who believe that they have a very real purpose.
